This session/product felt different from other live ingredient list analysis sessions. It’s definitely not the first time we’ve run across a key ingredient that we can’t get, but I think it’s the first time we’ve looked at a product that does what it claims, but in a way that had most of us on the live going “… no thanks.”
An interesting one, and one I think is relatively do-able at home for intermediate makers. It’s an emulsion with the added complexity of getting the pH just right, so that’s the skill you’ll want to be comfortable with if you want to tackle this product.
This product has hundreds of positive reviews that praise its ability to calm and moisturize even the most sensitive skin—so what makes it work? And can we use some of those lessons in our own formulations? I really enjoyed creating a more accessible non-silicone-based gel cream “variation” using the lessons learned from the initial analysis in addition to a version based around a silicone gel. I’d love to do more of this in the future where it makes sense (as time allows, at least 😅).
Why should our regular skin get all the AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) love? This exfoliating lip serum is such a cool idea—we learned lots and put together a very DIY-able version using ingredients we can get at the end of the live stream 😄
